Hey Pastor John,

I was wondering if you could answer a question that I think I’ve had for a while.  You’ve said before that Christianity was the anti-christ.  Is that just Christianity or is that all religions?  I guess it’s anything that pretends to be from God but isn’t?

Hi Maleah.

Good to hear from you!

You’re thinking in the right direction.  Any religion or philosophy that claims it represents the Father, other than the way the Father Himself established in Jesus, is unholy and it hurts people.  Such religions and philosophies give people a false sense of security and a false hope.  But to qualify to be “anti-christ”, a religion has to claim to represent the Son, not just the Father, and that is what makes Christianity the principal anti-christ religious system.  It claims to represent Christ, not just “God”.

In the first century AD, the Greek word “anti” did not mean “against” as much as it meant “instead of”.  So the “anti-Christ” spirit is a spirit that people receive instead of the Spirit of Christ.  This spirit does not speak in tongues or with “stammering lips” when it comes in, and John said that’s how we can always recognize the spirit of anti-christ from the real holy Spirit (1Jn. 4:1-2).

Thanks for writing.  God bless.

AoG Statement

The following is from the Assembly of God “Statement of Fundamental Truths in 1916” (the same council where Oneness folks split from them):

The full consummation of the baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost and fire is indicated by the initial sign of speaking in tongues, as the Spirit of God gives utterance. Acts 2:4. This wonderful experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth. Acts 10:44-46; 11:14-16; 15:8,9.

It’s interesting to see it so clear in writing. I wonder if the actual wording has changed since this time.

As far as speaking in tongues being the “initial evidence” of the holy Ghost baptism, it’s worded about the same everywhere in Pentecostal sects, including the heresy that goes with it: “This wonderful experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth.”

End-Time Video

Hi John,

The YouTube video about the end of this world which brought to my attentioin represents many of the feelings I have felt lately. Even without emotionally compelling “propaganda” influences such as this video, something in my soul has curiously awakened my senses regarding revelation and the end times.

As I think I mentioned to you the other day, I have felt a strange sense of “dread” in my spirit, regarding Pres. O. (I can’t even bear to say his name) and the events that seem to be already occuring right at the beginning of his presidency. Apart from that “flying dream” that the Lord gave me 2 weeks ago, I am not sleeping well, waking with fears and imaginations of what might be beginnning to happen in America. I am trying to “think on God” and keep Jesus’ love and protection close to my heart, and pray, and ask, and keep my mind “stayed” on Him.

But I have the feeling that Americans have REALLY been mesmerized by a politician who seeks to bring “change” indeed to this country. I suppose all we can do is stengthen ourselves in the Holy Ghost, for we must endure whatever is coming down the pike.

Love you,

Brother Brad

Well, Brother Brad,

The best we can do is to make sure we have “clean hands and a pure heart.” At least, that way, we know we shall see God.

The job of presidency of this country is too big for any human, and so, the most dangerous politicians are the ones who think they know what to do to fix the problems that exist. May God have mercy on the rulers of this country. Let’s pray for them. Without that, there is no hope. But how long will God tolerate the great disrespect so many of these rulers show Him?

It is a comfort to know that our God is in charge.

Head of the House

Hey Pastor John,

What exactly does a man being the head of his house mean and entail him doing?

Hi Jacob:

Good question, Jacob. Thanks for writing.

Every home is different, and so it is difficult to describe being “head of the house” as being “always this” or “always that”. However, in every case, it does mean that it is the man’s responsibility to teach his wife and children the standards that God plainly has set for the family and that are in the Bible. This means, at a minimum, that the husband is required to establish and to maintain God’s standards in his own home. Paul and Peter both describe some of the standards God requires for the family unit, as the family unit existed in his time (which frequently included slaves). Paul’s description can be found in Ephesians 4:22 through 5:9, and Colossians 3:18 through 4:1. Peter’s can be found in 1Peter 2:1-7.
Generally, we can tell how well a man has done his duty as head of his house by looking at and listening to his wife and young children.

Also, Jacob, it should be pointed out that the husband being “head of the family” never implies that a man is free to abuse his wife or children, or be cruel or overbearing. That is not the way Christ is head of the family of God, and he is the husband’s example.

I was looking at the video “Fill us with Glory Now” on youtube this weekend and saw lots of wonderful responses. I like to go there every once in a while to see what people are saying. God’s children are everywhere and they are hungering and thirsting for His Spirit; just to watch the video has touched many of them.

And, I was very touched just reading the responses. It brought tears to my eyes to think of them. So, here they are if you would like to read them as well. So far, this video has been viewed 35,436 times and has 45 comments.

PS Gary added it to PastorJohnsHouse.com if anyone wants to see it.

Hi Bro. John:

I have really been enjoying watching God’s creatures in my backyard. Geese are part of that enjoyment. Solomon said we can learn wisdom from watching God’s creation. I have heard the old saying: “You don’t have sense God gave a goose!” Well, seems geese are pretty sensible. I thought these geese facts were pretty good.

~Sandy 🙂 “Honk”

Geese Facts

Next fall when you see geese heading south for the winter… flying along in V formation…you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way:

As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in V formation the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range, than if each bird flew on its own.

People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone… and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front. If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation with those who are headed the same way we are.

When the head goose gets tired it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point. It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs…with people or with geese flying south.

Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed. What do we say when we honk from behind?

Finally…and this is important…when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshots, and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly or until it dies, and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their group.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other like that.

Well, Sandy, now I understand that bumper sticker that says, “Honk if you love Jesus!”

Darkest Places

Hi Pastor John,

Today was incredible!  Thank you, Jason and Richard, and anyone else involved in getting that DVD assembled for us here in Louisville.  (It was the month of December NT classes put together in one FLOWING video.)  God absolutely blessed us today.  One of the things you said toward the end of the video was a quote from Jesus “Woe to you in Chorazin and Bethsaida!  If the works done in you had been done in Sodom, they would have repented and still be standing today!” (to paraphrase).   You said ” The darkest places on earth are where Jesus has been and is no more.”

Today, those places are people.  God’s people lose their mind when they go so far astray that Jesus withdraws from them.  I thank God for a sober mind.  It is His mind.
